Most first-time visitors come for the beaches and stay for the pace of life — long lunches, evening paseos along the seafront, and towns that feel lived-in rather than built for tourists. Marbella's old town and the fishing-village streets of Estepona are both an easy taxi ride from the bigger resort strips.
Flight time from the UK runs a little under three hours, and Málaga airport sits close enough to most resorts that transfers rarely eat into your first evening. Peak season runs June to September, but spring and autumn bring milder heat and quieter beaches.
