Why go to Koh Samui

Koh Samui in Thailand has built its reputation on watersports rented by the hour right off the sand and long lunches that drift into the evening — the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing between sights. Palm-fringed beaches with a quieter pace than the mainland.

Flights land at USM airport, and the pace on the ground is generally unhurried — expect the day to be built around the beach, with everything else fitted in around it. Koh Samui is well suited to both a short week away and a longer, slower two-week stay.
