Phu Quoc in Vietnam has built its reputation on boat trips out to nearby coves and day trips inland to villages that see far fewer visitors — the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing between sights. Vietnam's largest island, still refreshingly undeveloped.
Flights land at PQC airport, and the pace on the ground is generally sociable — expect the day to be built around the beach, with everything else fitted in around it. Phu Quoc is well suited to both a short week away and a longer, slower two-week stay.
