Varadero in Cuba has built its reputation on sunset views from a harbourside bar and sunset views from a harbourside bar — the kind of place that rewards slowing down rather than rushing between sights. A 20km stretch of powder-white Caribbean beach.
Flights land at VRA airport, and the pace on the ground is generally low-key — expect the day to be built around the beach, with everything else fitted in around it. Varadero is well suited to both a short week away and a longer, slower two-week stay.
